VISUALS:I “upgraded” to this monitor due to some panel problems with my Pixio Px276. TN panels are known to be “dull” or not have the best colour accuracy so I expected this VA panel to provide a big visual difference and I wasn’t disappointed. The blacks are very dark and not as grey as they appeared on my previous monitor. I am currently playing through FFXVI and wow, is it a visual spectacle on this monitor! When testing on dark games primarily like FF7 remake the contrast caused the other colours to really pop on the screen. The colours are more vibrant than my previous TN panel and creates a much more visually appealing display.CURVE:Initially I was concerned with the 1000R curvature but this turned out to be a non issue after a couple days of usage. I am not sure if it was necessary for a 27” monitor as I do still find myself turning my head slightly when trying to focus on content at the furthest edge of the screen but I sit about two and a half feet away from it so it may not be an issue if you are closer. I have found that the curve does provide a more immersive experience when gaming or watching a movie.FRAMERATE:I don’t play competitive games so the 240HZ of this monitor is a bit overkill for my needs plus I don’t really have the GPU power to run newer titles at that frame rate. I did however try some older titles like Borderlands 2 to experience these high frame rates and they are buttery smooth although I personally can’t really seem to tell the difference between the 100s and 200s range.HDR:Unfortunately HDR is not supported on Ubuntu yet but I did try to test it on a Windows 10 machine and was left a bit perplexed. Now, I had heard that HDR wasn’t great on PC/Windows but I did not expect to have giant pixilated blocks with HDR enabled. I understand that some fine tuning is required to get HDR to work properly but I did not bother to pursue it as HDR wasn’t really a requirement for me but more of a bonus feature of the monitor.NEGATIVES:The only negative is that I found the menus to be a bit cumbersome to navigate at least when compared to my previous Pixio monitor. In my opinion the “normal” colour mode appeared to be more accurate than the default “warm” selection but I have barely made any changes to the monitor, using it with mostly default out of the box settings. I know there is an app that can be installed instead of fiddling with the monitor controls but I haven’t tested it.CONCLUSION:The monitor has worked great with no dead pixels etc over the last couple months of usage and do I hope it continues to last with no issues. I have known AOC to be a good legacy brand at least from the CRT days and I hope that legacy has been upheld over the years so that it has the same type of longevity and reliability as those older monitors. I think it’s a great monitor and from my personal experience it serves as a big upgrade in visual fidelity over a TN panel.

Best value of all 32 inch monitors? Possibly.
The Good:Great contrast and color. You can play with the settings to make it really pop without touching your graphics card settings. It seems they solved VA black smearing in this cheap model? If there is, I don’t see any. I usually test this driving around at night in Cyberpunk 2077 or looking at the stars in No Mans Sky. Even at low FPS (60-70) there is no black smearing but there is more motion blur. At high FPS (120+) it looks absolutely perfect to my eyes. I’m running a 9800x3d + 9070XT and it can push lots of FPS. Gets decently bright too. I had to lower brightness because it was straining my eyes. No dead pixels. VESA mountable. I don’t think you can do better for the price.The Bad:HDR is broken. You will not get it to look good no matter what you try. Windows HDR calibrator, monitor settings and graphics card settings will not be enough to fix what is broken. My advice is forget its even an option. SDR is perfectly fine. The stand it comes with is garbage. Get a VESA arm or mount.Other Thoughts:My experience with AOC monitors is hit and miss. Some last 10 years and some last 10 weeks. I’m really happy with this one so I hope it sticks around. Other monitors tried and returned: HP OMEN 32q (mediocre) Samsung Odyssey G50d (beyond terrible). For the money you will not get a better 32.

A little background, I had many OLED monitors in the past ranging from QHD to 4K, WOLED and QD-OLED and while I was happy with them, because I work from home 90% and play games/watch movies 10%, I needed to move away from OLED to stop my burn-in anxiety and to get better text rendering.That is when I switched to Mini LEDI was happy with my previous AOC Q27G3XMN, but one thing that bothered me was the fact that I couldn’t run it @ 180Hz since it only has HDMI 2.0 and my Razer Blade 16 2025 laptop only has an HDMI 2.1 port. Yes, I could’ve just connected it via USB-C and gotten the 180Hz. Still, when I did that, the signal was coming through the integrated GPU, not my nVIDIA GPU, causing a slight performance hit and disabling RTX Video Enhancement in the nVIDIA Control Panel.So I scoured the net looking for a QHD (I don’t want 4K anymore for performance reasons) Mini LED monitor that had HDMI 2.1 and preferably a USB hub. I was surprised that there were no monitors to meet all those requirements. There is a Samsung Odyssey G7 4K Mini LED (which I had before and returned it), but I didn’t want to get a 4K monitor.That is when I came across the AOC Agon PRO AG274QZM. I was surprised there are no reviews of this monitor anywhere, and it was released in 2023, yet it still beats everything out there in terms of features!- HDMI 2.1- IPS panel (more on that later)- 750 nits of brightness in SDR- 576 local dimming zone (yes, not the best, but better than the Q27G3XMN, which only has 336 dimming zones )- USB Hub with 4 USB 3.2 ports and a USB-C port- 10-bit colors- 240Hz refresh rateThe Amazon reviews leave a lot to be desired, most of them complaining about receiving the monitor with dead pixels. I took a chance anyway, as Amazon has a great return policy.The monitor arrived, the box was almost as big as a 42-inch TV, and it’s enormous. So many parts, including a privacy/bright light hoodAfter unboxing the monitor and turning it on, I was a bit worried, it had this matte grainy effect, but the moment you crank up the brightness, it becomes crystal clearIt also comes with a controller to navigate through the OSD settings, so no more fiddling around with awkwardly placed buttons on the back / underneath the monitor. It is so easy to change settings using the controllerThe colors are very punchy and vibrant, the brightness makes everything pop so much.Even though it is an IPS monitor, which I was skeptical about as I hate IPS glow, this monitor has 0 IPS glow, it’s almost as good as having an OLED monitor but without the OLED downsides such as burn-in or text fringing or low brightness.Turning on local dimming slightly reduces the brightness in SDR (not in HDR), but not as much as it did on my AOC Q27G3XMN. So I turn off local dimming in SDR but turn it on in HDR.The monitor is also G-Sync compatible, and I had 0 flickering issues.I highly recommend this monitor. I still can’t believe this monitor was released in 2023, yet it rivals and beats monitors recently released in terms of features and performance
