Aqara Did it Again!
UPDATE:I’ve now had this bulb for some time, and I’ve got to say… in simple terms… reliable. I’ve since bought a few more bulbs, and I have some with Zigbee and some with Thread protocols, and I’ve got to say both have been flawless for me. Now, granted, if you’re building out a smart home, your reliability is based on your setup. Take into account that these IoT devices are communicated via a radio frequency of some sort. So, if you’re having issues, move your hubs around if you’d like more reliability. It could be that something is obstructing or interfering with your hub to the endpoint (i.e. light bulb). I added these bulbs to my Apple Home. They work much better with my Inovelli smart dimmer (white series) than other bulbs that didn’t work in my environment.Week 1: This light is an excellent product, as always! It supports both Thread and Zigbee protocols, which is great for flexibility. It’s very bright, and I was able to set it up with Thread without any issues. The Zigbee setup was also straightforward, using the Aqara app. I like the On/Off Transition feature that allows me to turn on/off the bulb with a delay. I can edit this setting within the Aqara app. The colors are vibrant, with the warm white and white colors being particularly brighter. The light is responsive and has been reliable so far. If it continues to perform well, I’ll be purchasing more to replace some Nanoleaf bulbs that I’ve had trouble with. I highly recommend this light, regardless of whether you’re using it with Thread or Zigbee.

Excellent light, no Aqara Hub required if using Matter over Thread.
Paired directly via matter to Apple Home with an Apple TV, and then from there to Alexa (again via matter.) No Aqara hub required, your Apple TV/HomePod/Alexa device serves as the hub. Very responsive and love the smooth dimming. Surprised at how reliable it is given some of the reviews, but there appears to be confusion over what matter is and how it works, even among self-proclaimed tech-savvy people. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ .

Bright and Adjustable Smart Bulb That Works Well Once Set Up
This Aqara smart bulb has a nice range of brightness and color temperature, from warm to cool white, which makes it great for different times of day. The light quality is clean and even, and once connected, it responds quickly to commands. I like being able to control it through my smart home setup, especially since it integrates with Apple Home and other platforms. The bulb feels solid and high quality, and it gives off plenty of light without flickering or buzzing.Setting it up was a little confusing at first since it supports both Thread and Zigbee, but after getting it connected, it has worked reliably. The connection stays stable, and switching between brightness levels is smooth with no delay. It is a great option if you are already using Aqara products or want to expand a Matter or Thread system. Overall, it is a well-made smart bulb that performs nicely once you get past the initial setup.Pros:Wide tunable white range from warm to cool lightBright, flicker free illuminationIntegrates well with Apple Home and other smart platformsStable connection once pairedSolid build and energy efficientCons:Setup process can be confusing at first

Works after updating firmware to ZigBee
Review Update:After connecting to Aqara support, it seems that the firmware on these bulbs needs to be updated and switched from Matter to ZigBee. During setup, there small print in the middle of the screen (see that attached screen shot) that allow you to reflash the firmware and switch the bulbs from Matter to ZigBee.After reflashing the bulbs, they connected without any problem to my Aqara hub and then showed up in Apple Home immediately afterward.Original review:Does not work at all. I have an Aqara hub and an Apple Matter hub.The Aqara iPhone App see the light bulb but fails during setup every time. Also fails when trying to add directly using the Aqara hub via ZigBee.

50% Useless on Arrival Rate (6 Purchased)
Have about half dozen of these. I have had to throw out three so far because every time they lost power, they came back online with a new ID and appear to the network to be a brand new accessory requiring they be added and configured anew—not a fast or easy task with many automations and scenes already set up. The other three of these (and several dozen non-Aqara bulbs I also have) have power cycled many times without starting with new ID, so clearly an Aqara quality control failure rather than a limitation of the system.Very expensive have a 50% dud/lemon rate.If you really want these, be ready to return many of them and most importantly: stress test them early before all the packaging is thrown out!

Great bulbs. They expand my zigbee network, which is important to me, since I want a robust network, but I mostly run smart switches instead of bulbs. (I have lots of fluorescent lights to control). These allow me to make sure the zigbee devices I have get a nice little boost since tel hey are directly powered.I have them in two basic ikea lamps on my nightstands. I removed the pull strings, so the lamps are always on. I control these bulbs using Aqara mini switches, which I program through Home Assistan. Since they are Matter capable, I also can control them through HomeKit without any extra effort.Great lighting, good colours and a price you can’t compete with. Phillips can’t touch these. At this point, using Hue is more a sign of having more money than sense. These are significantly cheaper and have better colour range and CRI.

These bulbs at this price can’t be missed! They seamlessly integrated with my existing Aqara products, as well as Google Home and Alexa. I recommend, if you can, getting a Zigbee hub, as these work even without internet connectivity! The color accuracy also rivals that of pricier brands like Philips Hue. Great product!
