Great inexpensive grinder coffee maker combo unit
This replaces my Keurig with a reusable K-cup. The Keurig wasn’t bad, but getting the coffee grounds into the reusable K-cup was extremely messy and had to be repeated for every cup of coffee.Researching grinder/coffee maker combos, a common complaint for grinders that dropped the coffee grounds into a filter was that they didn’t work well with dark roast (my preferred beans) as the grounds would clog the chute. This coffee maker avoids that by grinding them inside the reusable brewing basket.Several folks have commented that the coffee is weak, but I’ve found that using 1Tbsp of beans per cup and the strong setting makes a very strong coffee.Others have said that it doesn’t make the coffee hot enough or doesn’t keep it hot. I haven’t had that experience. Mine is nuclear right after brewing and is still hotter than my Keurig used to make even after sitting on the keep warm setting for over an hour. One reviewer mentioned the overflow hole in the fill tank made this a less than 12-cup coffee maker. I’m able to get a full 12-cups and appreciate water overflowing out of the fill tank rather than excess coffee spilling out of the coffee maker if I ever tried to put too much water in.A point that I can agree on is that the grinder IS loud. Do I have to warn others in the house before using it as some have noted, though? No, that’s just plain silly.All-in-all, this appliance has made my morning coffee ritual exponentially more pleasant, producing a strong hot carafe full of coffee with no mess to clean up afterwards.

    Flawless and delicious!!!
We have owned two of these and have enjoyed having delicious coffee from freshly-ground, excellent beans (Lavazza Top Choice, sometimes espresso version but usually filtro), programmed the night before. Heavenly coffee to wake up to. Both of our Black & Decker Mill & Brew coffee makers have performed flawlessly. To the reviewer who can’t get her filter out: use the swing-up handle on it, and it comes right out. We had the 1st over six years, and I bought a second simply bc I didn’t know how to properly clean the fine-meshed filter and it accumulated some hard debris. I scraped it out with a sharp knife! The new one, which I’ve easily kept clean for almost 3 years now, I just spray out with the kitchen spray hose, first inside, then from the outside along each section (sides and bottom). Takes only a minute. I also run it through the dishwasher every month or two and that’s all it takes. I also give a quick rinse to the funnel that holds the filter. Easy to use, SUPERB coffee that stays hot and somehow doesn’t get bitter nearly as quickly as with other coffee makers and coffee brands. Great features: select how long to grind, how strong to make, when to start brewing (immediately, or program), etc. Love it and will likely buy another just to stash in the basement to have when this one eventually goes. As grinders go, it isn’t very loud, though if our bedroom door is open, we do hear it go off in the morning…this has become a very happy sound association. After over eight years, we still get excited about getting up for a cup of Lavazza Top Class, freshly ground and brewed in an EXCELLENT coffee maker. Lower maintenance than the pricey super-automatics, way more affordable, easy cleaning, and–best of all–amazing coffee. Highly recommend.

Great coffee maker but no replacement carafe available **Update – Found a workable carafe**
**** Update 5/3/2025 ****For those of you looking for a replacement carafe I found one! With the nub on top of the carafe (that pushes in the coffee dispenser, this one is a little tall for the B&D, but it works. It’s just a snug fit. The top of the carafe doesn’t line up with where the coffee comes out on the B&D but it’s tall enough that it still pushes in the coffee dispenser and the coffee goes into the carafe and doesn’t spill. So pleased I’m able to use this again. This is a no-name brand but have it used for about a week and it’s working fine. https://www.amazon.com/12-Cup-Replacement-Coffee-Compatible-coffeemakers/dp/B0DZXD8ZBN/ref=cm_cr_srp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8——We've owned several coffee makers over the years but for the last 20+ have always used a ‘grind and brew’ approach. Our first grind-enabled coffee machine was a Melitta, nearly identical in design to this one. After several plastic pieces broke (as a result of a drop) I could no longer find this style (blade grinder built into the filter basket). Ultimately we decided to upgrade to a burr-grinder design (Cuisinart). At the time those were very expensive. We’ve pretty much used that model ever since. However, after having a few of those fail on us, I went searching and was pleased to find the Black and Decker was now making a nearly identical product to our first Melitta.I find this design much simpler to use and clean than the burr grinder models that have the bean storage on top. After making coffee you simply remove the filter/case, dump the used grounds in your compost (or trash), and rinse everything out. Very easy and don’t mind the reviews that talk about ‘sludge’. If you have your grind setting set for a long period of time (based on the number of cups you want to make) you may get some ‘very fine’ grounds at the bottom, but you can adjust the grind time by selecting smaller numbers of cups. I recommend playing with this until you find your perfect cup. I generally put in fewer tablespoons of beans, and then set the grind for even fewer than that. As an example, for 10 cups of coffee I put in 8 scoops, set the grind to 6 and the coffee is delicious. We use roasted (ie oily) beans so the coffee tends to be stronger. As for the coffee temperature, I tested it coming from the filter basket into the coffee pot and it is around 179. That is not ideal but about the same as most coffee makers out there. I wasn’t able to test the water temp coming into the filter basket but it’s probably lower than the recommended 195+. I looked for inexpensive coffee pots that achieve the ‘ideal’ brew temperature range but was unable to find any.In a nutshell, this is an easy to use, easy to clean, easy to program grind and brew coffee maker. It’s a pretty good value if not a little wider than necessary. I like the access to the water chamber, the pour from the carafe, and the aesthetic is ok.HOWEVER, the reason for the 1 star drop from a 5 star rating is I accidentally broke the carafe while cleaning it. In doing searches there appears to be no replacement carafe available. There are carafes for many other B&D models, just not this one. The replacement on their website is out of stock with no foreseeable availability date. I’ll continue to try to find one or use some other model that can hopefully fit, but in the meantime we’ll be buying a different brand grind and brew coffee maker because who doesn’t need their morning coffee?

Great quality. Make great coffee. It only drips if I overfill the pot. As long as I keep it 3/4 inch from the top, it doesn’t drip at all. And that’s saying something! All other brands I’ve tried ( Mr Coffee, Braun, Hamilton Beach, etc ) drip and dribble like mofos.

I’ve named her Brew Barrymore and I love her. First time ever trying full beans and it tastes out of this world, what was I drinking before?? Full bean people must look at pre ground people as peasant’s cuz omg I can never go back.Easy to use easy to clean. I’ve been trying her out for two weeks and I can’t find a fault. The grinding doesn’t sound too loud but works as an amazing alarm clock if coffee motivates you to get out of bed. You can select different grinds depending on how many cups you are making as well as change the strength. I can’t function in the morning so I love the concept of an all in one. No regrets so far.

Loved it as much as I love my expresso it successfully replaced my all in one espresso -latte -cappuccino maker as I am only intersted in my black coffee had to use a step down voltage for American / Canadian use in India …that cost me as much as the machine cost but the output is a perfect cup of joe each time , moreover I knew it before I bought it so no hard feelings for that😉 …grinds beans to a perfection and is quite user friendly even though with a professional touch !!

I have no idea why anyone would complain about this machine. It’s super easy to use and easy to clean and produces a great cup of coffee. I was always hesitant about buying a machine with a built in grinder because I assumed it would require too much cleaning but not this guy. You can remove the filter basket as well as the interior basket with the shower head so you can make sure everything is squeaky clean before you make coffee again. Super easy. Also Black & Decker makes a good product. My previous coffee maker was a B&D basic bitch model and I had it for over 10 years at least. Over all, great product and worth the money.
