Drone for Kids, Flying Quadcopter FPV Remote Control Drone with Camera

An upgrade from less expensive drones but quality and ease of use are poor at this price point
This drone is much larger than the ones we’ve previously purchased. I was worried that it would be more difficult to fly, however, it is much more stable in flight and easier to take off and land. It purportedly has GPS features, but I had a very hard time understanding the inscrutable instruction manuals. Eventually, I was able to start the drone up, fly it (quite high, compared to the small drones we’re used to), and return it to terra firma again. I need to do more messing about before I’m confident that the GPS and tracking features are actually working.I was unable to get the drone to broadcast its internal wifi network, which, according to the very badly translated instruction manual, is essential to connect the drone to the iOS app. Additionally, I can’t figure out how to get the video and photos off the drone. There’s no obvious SD/MicroSD card slot on the device and I don’t see a USB port to connect to my computer. It acts like it’s doing something when you hit the record button, but I can’t verify where the recordings go or how to access them.The build quality is poor. While the drone feels much more solid than the small mini-drones we’ve purchased in the past, it’s still cheap, poorly molded plastic. The extendable hand holds on the remote control unit are uncomfortable, and I found myself using the remote with the hand holds in the closed position. There are two “antennas” on the remote unit. One fell off and I realized there was no wire or antenna inside the plastic. I took the other “antenna” apart and it also didn’t have any wire/antenna inside. I think they’re there for looks, although it did look like there were grooves in the molded plastic that could accommodate an antenna wire, this model just doesn’t have them.The setup did come with a nicely-made semi-hardshell zippered case, replacement propeller blades, two batteries and a charger. But those inscrutable instruction manuals—egads!!!If you’re someone serious about drones, there are a number at a higher price point that will meet your needs. If you’re a kid who wants to have a little drone to play with, the smaller, cheaper drones are a pretty good bet. This one is an upgrade from those, but comes with plenty of frustrations that will probably prevent you from really enjoying your drone experience.I’m giving it two stars at this price point–it’d have been three stars for value if priced at half the selling price.
