I read many reviews where lots of people saying they have problem connecting this prompter to imac, for some reason, they can’t get it to work.I DID NOT ENCOUNTER ANY ISSUE AT ALL. ALL I HAD TO DO IS DOWNLOAD THE SOFTWARE FORM ELGATO WEBSITE AND CONNECT THE DEVICE TO MY IMAC. IT WORKS JUST FINE.THE ONLY PROBLEM THAT IS NOT REALLY A PROBLEM BUT WORTH MENTIONING IS IF YOU HAVE A WIDE ANGLE LENS LIKE THE SONY 1.8 YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE THE PROMPTER BY USING THE RING BECAUSE THIS LENS IS SO WIDE THAT YOU COULD SEE ALL THE EDGES OF THE PROMPTER BUT LUCKILY IT COMES WITH A STAND THAT YOU CAN CONNECT TO THE PROMPTER AND SET YOUR CAMERA ON TOP OF IT SLIDE IT FORWARD ENOUGH TO THE GLASS AND THIS WILL SOLVE THIS “ NOT EVEN A PROBLEM” PROBLEM.

How did I create content / stream without this?
Impressed! Love how this prompter can be used with proprietary software to display scripts, time them to your speech, act as an additional display (think two chat windows side by side) or even mate to you Twitch account and display your Twitch chat directly from Twitch (how I am currently using it)My chat feels more engaged with me because it seems I am making direct eye contact while I am reading chat. Love it!Additionally, it seems that this unit can be used with just a me out any webcam, dslr, mirrorless / lens combo… it comes with a few different backplates and about 10 lens rings (mounts lens to backplate). I am using a 6400 w a Sigma 16mm prime and it’s perfect.I’m not one for writing reviews, lets alone offering such glowing endorsements, but El Gato got it right this time. Get one.

Needs to be larger
It’s great, the software takes it from great to fantastic. I work from home and use this for online meetings. I just wish Elgato had a larger option. This is only a 9” display, which means you need to be fairly close to the teleprompter. If Elgato came out with a 24” or larger, it would be absolutely amazing and Elgato would instantly own the teleprompter space. 24 or 27” Teleprompter…. not 9”!!

Good product but beware of compatibility requirements
This teleprompter works great and it’s easy to use. The only reason for the 4 stars is because it requires USB-C 3.0. My 2019 Macbook Pro is not compatible with it, and the Mac OS app from Elgato requires extensions to work. So it’s not the best experience. But if you ware on a PC, it’s very simple and easy to use.

Overhyped and Under-Engineered – Not Worth the Cost for Mac Users
I was genuinely excited to purchase this teleprompter setup after it came highly recommended by numerous YouTubers. I spent over $500 expecting a professional-grade solution that would enhance the quality of my video lectures. Unfortunately, what I received was a half-functional, buggy product with glaring compatibility issues on Mac—and zero accountability from the company.Mac Compatibility: Misleading and ProblematicDespite being marketed as broadly compatible, the system is not fully functional with macOS. It regularly fails to initialize unless I unplug all other peripherals (including my mic), restart my machine multiple times, and pray it works. This is unacceptable for a product in this price range.Customer Support: Useless at BestTheir support is a joke. No live screen-share, no real-time troubleshooting—just endless email loops repeating steps I’ve already completed and denying there are any bugs in their software (specifically Elgato Hub, which is a disaster on Mac). The fact that they treat serious reliability issues as “user error” shows either incompetence or willful negligence.Return Policy: A Convenient ShieldOf course, all this became obvious after the return window closed. So now I’m stuck with a $500+ paperweight that undermines my workflow instead of supporting it. I expected this setup to save time and elevate production value. Instead, it’s a constant source of frustration and lost productivity.

The Elgato Prompter has been an absolute game changer for me! As someone who films a lot of scripted content, I always struggled with memorising lines while maintaining eye contact with the camera. With the Elgato Prompter, I can smoothly scroll through my lines, keeping my focus on my audience. Being able to adjust the font size and scroll speed is a really nice feature and allows me to go at my own pace. When I’m not filming content, it’s super easy to use the Prompter as another screen, or to display my chat when I’m streaming.The initial setup did take me a bit of time as the prompter was a bit larger than I anticipated, but once I got the positioning worked out, it was seamless to connect it to my camera and set it up through the Elgato Camera Hub software.If you’re a content creator or streamer looking to level up your setup, definitely check out the Elgato Prompter. I honestly didn’t realise how helpful it would be, and now I can’t imagine making content without it.

I have struggled to keep on track with my videos narrative for a while, and after checking out some other reviews on the Elgato Prompter I decided it was time to take the plunge.Setup was easy, I am using it with a Sony ZV-E10 it unfortunately needs a different lens to clip the prompter directly to utilise the included accessories, but the shroud does a great job of keeping out external light.The quality is very good as you would expect from Elgato, and it works seamlessly, the unit connects via USB C to USB A on the PC end, this provides power to the unit.The Elgato prompter is good value when compared to units requiring a seperate display, initial impressions are good, but the software does take some getting used to, the Stream Deck integration is awesome and made it simpler to scroll through whilst filming, the AI narrative function I couldn’t get working consistently.Overall, very good initial impressions.

Pretty easy to figure out, works well. Doesn’t have camera lens mounts for ALL lens sizes but you don’t need to use them.I figured out my own way to make it work with a cheap USB pedal from amazon instead of buying the overpriced Elgato pedal.
