Great product for household maintenance
Great product! I have a ceiling that leaks when there are heavy winds and rain. I wanted to see if this would pick up the path of the leak. I think it’s coming from shotty siding on the outside above the Bay window. I have an older house (that is very well built) and felt I needed this product for preventative maintenance. (update: 19JULY2021, today we had very heavy rain and winds. The ceiling leaked overnight. I have ruled out the bay window and the outside siding. I now believe the leak is coming from a plumbing vent pipe and the wind is thrashing a damage roof boot and rain is leaking under the flashing and traveling down the pipe, because it puddles in the same area.)This product does everything I need it to do and more. If you have moisture build-up it’s going to cause a leak. This device can find moisture in the walls because, moisture holds on to heat longer and will show up along the electromagnetic spectrum (actual radiated heat!) at a different surface temp than the drier portions of wall/ceiling around it.The Pro version comes with a thermal sensor and a camera that simultaneously takes a photo of the visible light and then processes both thermal and image together making it (not technically, but functionally)1. High resolution (for at least 3m from what I’ve gathered so far)2. For the distance (at least 3m I’ve tested), it’s pretty much Hyper-spectral! Because of the spectral range comparing temperature variations. It’s a heat map. Everyone loves heat maps. The only thing better than this would be to Buy the FLIR Drone! Because why not? I don’t have the money, or I would have.NOTE: I did receive a used device. There were pictures loaded from April 2020. So it must have been a returned item. There was nothing wrong with the item, and I kept it. It is an expensive product, for what it is. Although extremely cool and valuable at times, it makes life easier, it’s limited to vague diagnosis. It’s never happened before through Amazon. So I thought I should mention it here.

compatible
I’m sure this product works great, but I made a mistake when purchasing—so be sure to read the details carefully. I have an Apple i phone 16″ with a USB-C port and bought a FLIR camera, assuming “Apple compatible” meant it would work. It doesn’t. Then, I purchased a USB-C charger adapter but didn’t get one that supports OTG. Now, I have two options: buy a Lightning-to-USB-C adapter that is OTG compatible or contact FLIR to exchange it for the correct thermal camera. Read the fine print!

The best bang for your buck!
I have been using this thermal camera for a couple months now and it has been absolutely invaluable for helping identify issues that are inside of walls and ceilings. It is also been very helpful for identifying if water spots are fresh or old within ceiling tiles and has made things a lot easier as far as identifying issues with temperature because rather than sitting there with thermometers or laser thermometers, or even touching things or hands can just bring up the camera pointed at it if it’s blue, you know there’s an issue if it’s not, you know there’s not an issue And it really just makes things a lot easier for the price that it is. I don’t think you can really get better quality from the fact that it’s on your phone means that it’s very easy to take the photos that you need and send them off to people who need them rather than having to take the device and plug it into a computer and deal with transferring anything it just simplifies everything Additionally, due to its small size it fits in a very very small case that can fit within your pocket or your path back if you worry about damage you can place it into a pelican style case and even then it still fits very comfortable into a backpack. It makes it through TSA just fine and honestly this is just a must have if you need a lower resolution, but reliable thermal camera for your job

Versatile and User-Friendly with Limitations
The Flir One Pro thermal camera, designed to work seamlessly with iPhones using the lightning connection, is a tool that blends innovation with practicality. I have used this camera for a variety of tasks, from identifying insulation gaps in my home to spotting nocturnal wildlife and even aiding in home improvement projects like hanging paintings. While the Flir One Pro stands out in certain aspects, it also has limitations that potential users should consider.Versatility and Use Cases: The Flir One Pro’s versatility is its strongest suit. Its ability to easily connect to an iPhone makes it incredibly user-friendly for various applications. Detecting insulation gaps is effortless, providing a clear understanding of where heat loss occurs in a home. Its utility extends beyond typical use cases; for instance, its effectiveness in spotting animals in trees at night is remarkable. The camera also proves handy for DIY projects, such as locating beams in walls, which is invaluable for safe and precise installation of fixtures and artwork.Connectivity and App Features: Another commendable feature is the device’s connectivity. The lightning connection to the iPhone is stable and reliable, ensuring seamless integration with the phone’s interface. The accompanying app is robust, offering a range of options and settings that enhance the thermal imaging experience. These features make the Flir One Pro not just a thermal camera but a sophisticated diagnostic tool.Accuracy: In terms of accuracy, the Flir One Pro delivers commendably. It provides detailed thermal readings, making it a reliable tool for both professional and personal use. This level of precision, especially in identifying problematic areas in home insulation, adds significant value to the device.Drawbacks – Frame Rate and Resolution: However, the Flir One Pro is not without its drawbacks. The most notable is its low frame rate and resolution, especially when compared to newer and often cheaper alternatives in the market. These limitations can affect the clarity and smoothness of the thermal imaging, especially in dynamic situations or when fine details are crucial.Battery Life and Charging: Another downside is its reliance on an independent battery, which requires regular charging. The inconvenience of the device not drawing power directly from the iPhone means that one might often find the camera with a depleted battery when needed. This aspect can be particularly frustrating for users who require the camera for spontaneous or urgent tasks.Cost Consideration: Lastly, the cost of the Flir One Pro is a significant factor. It is an expensive device, and while it offers a range of applications, its price point might not justify its purchase for everyone. Potential buyers should assess their specific needs and frequency of use before investing in this thermal camera. Conclusion: In conclusion, the Flir One Pro thermal camera is a sophisticated and versatile tool that excels in connectivity and accuracy. Its range of applications, from home improvement to wildlife observation, is impressive. However, its lower frame rate and resolution, coupled with the inconvenience of battery charging and a high price tag, make it a device best suited for those with specific, frequent uses for thermal imaging.

Gebruik deze om warmte verspilling op te sporen in huis en voor waterlekkage onder betegeling.Zeker een aanrader.Gr.

Has own power supply so you need to turn it ON when you plug it in and wait a few seconds for an image to come onto the screen. Be patient. Refresh rate seems slow but that’s the case with all thermal cameras costing less than £20,000! Image quality and ease of use make this a great bit of kit. It is essentially the same sensor and features as the FLIR E6 which is a £2000 camera. Make sure you download the FLIR ONE app and the FLIR Tools app. The latter does some post processing and let’s you generate a range of different PDF reports that you can email straight from the app!!! The attached image is showing rainwater penetration through the outside wall of a Victorian house (defective rainwater pipe). Brilliant for building diagnostics.

This is a great toy for an electronics fanatic. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed testing heatsinks and PCBs with this. I just wish the frame rate was faster.
