Great – Just Works – But Basic
I initially was a Hue bulb user but I had multiple quirks so I completely dumped them and switched over to the Kasa Bulbs. Reason I picked the Kasa Bulbs over others was because I already had some Kasa Switches and Kasa Plugs so I didn’t want another App and another eco system to worry about. Also, my existing Kasa stuff works perfectly. With that said, here’s my reviewProsApp is simple and straight forward (see negative)They work with Google, Alexa, IFTTT, and Smart Things (no Apple Homekit) so I’m not tied to a single smart systemBrightness is great. Brighter than my Hues (1000 lumen bulb)No Hub neededFast response. When I turn on or off the lights, or even change brightness/color, it’s pretty much immediate – my friend has Feint Electric bulbs, and there is like a 3-5 second delayI can control lights remotely – when I’m away from home I can see status of the lightsPrice – 2 pack of Hue is $100 (not including hub). 2 pack of Kasa, about $30Setup is super easy (see negative)NegativesThe app being simple is a negative. Coming from the Hue app, Kasa app is super basic. While you can get it to do pretty much everything you could do in the Hue app, it’s a lot of manual setup. Example: Hue has a ton of pre-setup scenes like night ‘Misty Morning’, etc. Whereas Kasa has 3 basic scenes to start. You can definitely ‘recreate’ any Hue scene in the app, but it’s a lot of work.(small gripe) Continuing with, app, the home screen should be quick access to things (more grouping of icons). Example: Hue has all the scenes at the top and lights below that. So once you go in to the app, it’s one click to change scenes or to turn off/on a light. In Kasa, it’s extra click or additional scrolling to accomplish the same thingAnd then there are no add-ons like Hue to make the lights more fun and dynamic. Like on New Year, I could set Hue lights to ‘Firework’ and that was cool. There is zero dynamic modes with KasaTo go along with the ‘fun’ topic. You can link your Hue up media device and have it changes colors while it plays (music, tv). There is nothing in the Kasa ecosystem right now that does that.Setup can be annoying because the app can be confusing during setup. (see below for easy headache free setup)No Apple Homekit supportIFTTT – does not support triggers, only actions. While I’m going to miss some things about the Hue lights, I’m not going to miss the headaches. Hue lights are more ‘fun’ (just don’t expect no issues), but if you want lights that just work, have great brightness, color selection and are a fraction of the price of Hue, I highly suggest the Kasa bulbsPre-setup notesIf you are connected to a vpn on your phone or using AdGuard, disable it before you startRequire 2.4Ghz WiFi. Will not connect to 5Ghz. On your phone connect to your 2.4Ghz WiFi before you startIf you have more than 1 bulb to install, do 1 at a time. Don’t install any of the other bulbs until you finish the previous.Setup works best when you wait about 20-30 seconds after you plug in the bulb before trying to it up.Setting up bulb1 – in the Kasa app, press the + in the top right corner2 – select Device3 – select smart lights4 – select Smart Bulb KL100 series5 – click next on install screen6 – click next on power screen7 – app will try to connect to bulb, if it connects to bulb, skip to step 118 – if it fails to connect, wait like 5-10 seconds and hit ‘try again’9 – if it still fails to connect, open your WiFi settings on your phone and manually connect to the Bulb (bulb should be TP_Link….)10- now go back to the app and hit ‘try again’11- pick the WiFi and enter your WiFi password12- when you get to the ‘Connect to your WiFi’ screen, if the app switches you back your initial WiFi (takes about 20 seconds), click ‘already connected’. If it doesn’t auto switch you back, manually switch back to your initial WiFi and then click ‘already connected’13- Now name your Bulb13- you’re done. – repeat for each bulb you need to setupNow you can add a group (+ in top right corner of app) if you want group multiple bulbs together or create a scene, etc.NOTE: A group in Kasa won’t show in Alexa. If you want a group in Alexa, in Alexa app go to Devices, scroll down to Groups and create a Group

Best brand to automate homes, colorful bulbs
These smart bulbs are fantastic! The colors are vibrant, and the dimming feature lets me create the perfect ambiance. Setup was a breeze with Alexa and Google Home, and no hub is required, which is a big plus. The brightness is impressive, and they respond instantly to voice commands. Highly recommend!

So far so good. Pricey but work great!
This is my third different brand of smart bulbs and so far this brand works the best. I have Singled, which works ok but the app is crap. I have Wiz which the app is a little better with a ton of features but is a little more complicated and also the both bulbs quit functioning prematurely. These bulbs just work, the app is clean and easy to use and has some great extra features. I use some outdoors and set them to turn on and off based on sunset and sunrise which is super cool. Then change the colors for the holiday. So far I love these!

    Good entry level smart bulb
I have over a dozen of these Kasa smart bulbs in my house, and I’ve used them for over a year now. Overall, these are a solid and affordable entry-level smart bulb.Installation is a piece of cake. Simply unscrew the old (standard) bulb, and screw the Kasa bulb in its place. Then follow the instructions in the app to configure the bulb with your wi-fi.To be clear about how these work: DO NOT flip the wall switch on and off. Turning the switch off will kill power to the bulb. The wi-fi chip inside the bulb always needs a small amount of power in order to receive the command to turn the light on. When you want to turn the light on from your phone app, or Alexa device, these devices will send a command to the bulb over wi-fi. If the bulb has no power, it cannot receive this command. So LEAVE THE WALL SWITCH ON ALWAYS, and simply use your app or Alexa to control the lights.Of course, you COULD continue to use the wall switch as normal, and the lights will go on and off properly. This is actually quite convenient when guests are unfamiliar with how the bulbs work. However, if you plan to use the wall switch routinely, you lose any smart functionality, and there’s no point to buying these bubs.Unfortunately, the bulbs seem to have a flaky wi-fi connection, and the app occasionally loses the ability to communicate with the bulb. Every day or two, I have to flip the wall switch off and then back on to “reboot” the bulb’s wi-fi chip. Then you’re good for another couple days.In terms of brightness, these are advertised at 800 lumens. I have 5 of them in my dining room chandelier, and it certainly provides more than enough light for eating, and for craft projects on the table. In the living room, the ceiling fan has 4 of these bulbs, and it does seem a little dim at times when reading. I wish the bulbs went up to 1,000 lumens or more.Of the 12+ of these bulbs I own, one went bad within a few months and I had to replace it. The rest continue to work.Overall I give these a B+.

Find your color, to set your mood!
I wanted to add a little color to my room at night and this was exactly what I needed. It took a few tries to set up the WiFi , because it keeps losing the signal, but once I got it to work I picked the color I wanted and I just turn it off by the switch manually . I don’t need Alexa to do that for me.

    Beautiful colors and bright
Lights are working extremely well. They are my first in line for smart bulbs and I’m happy with the purchase.Easy set up. Follow the instructions finding and connecting to the bulbs through Wi-Fi on your phone. Then follow the prompts after downloading the Kasa app. They are bright and easily controlled through the app.The app being the central command for the lights is easy to use and allows you to set up preferences and control the lights together or singularly. There are also a couple of presets you can use.

I recently purchased the Kasa Smart Bulb, and I am thoroughly impressed with its performance and features. This smart bulb has truly enhanced the ambiance of my home while being highly economical and user-friendly.Firstly, the setup process was incredibly straightforward. The bulb seamlessly connected to my Wi-Fi and integrated with Alexa without any issues. Within minutes, I was able to control the bulb using voice commands through my Echo Dot, which made the whole experience even more convenient. One of the standout features of the Kasa Smart Bulb is its energy efficiency. Despite its bright and vibrant illumination, it consumes significantly less power compared to traditional bulbs. This not only helps reduce my electricity bill but also makes it an environmentally friendly choice. It’s great to have a smart home device that doesn’t compromise on brightness while being conscious of energy consumption. The versatility of this smart bulb is another aspect worth highlighting. It offers a wide range of colors and adjustable brightness levels, allowing me to set the perfect mood for any occasion. Whether I’m hosting a dinner party, relaxing with a book, or watching a movie, I can easily change the color and intensity to suit the atmosphere. The colors are rich and vivid, adding a touch of elegance and style to any room.Additionally, the Kasa Smart Bulb’s scheduling feature is incredibly useful. I can set it to turn on or off at specific times, which is perfect for maintaining a routine or enhancing security when I’m away from home. I also love the “circadian mode” that adjusts the lighting based on the time of day, mimicking natural light patterns and helping to regulate my sleep cycle. The Kasa app is user-friendly and intuitive, making it easy to control the bulb remotely. Whether I’m in another room or miles away from home, I can effortlessly adjust the lighting settings with just a few taps on my smartphone. The app also allows me to group multiple bulbs and control them simultaneously, providing even more convenience. In summary, the Kasa Smart Bulb is an excellent addition to any smart home setup. Its economical energy consumption, stunning color options, ease of use, and seamless integration with Alexa make it a top-notch choice. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase and highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their home lighting with smart technology. This bulb has exceeded my expectations in every way and has truly elevated the ambiance and functionality of my living space.

Deceptive ad, does not mention the voltage is not suitable for 220v (the standard voltage in the UAE and is still available on UAE amazon). After purchase I received an email informing me of this this and recommending I use a voltage converter. By this time it was too late to cancel. Proceed with caution.

I love Kasa products they are easy to install, they work as expected and they have a lot of useful features. I bought the bulbs to replace an Lifix bulb that stopped pairing with my WIFI – it was always pretty difficult to pair. With the Kasa bulb pairing was done in 2 minutes, easy peasy. Plenty of features with the bulb, colours, dimmable, you can set schedules. I cannot recommend them enough. I also own the smart plugs and I am very happy with them, not having to unplug the Christmas lights before going to bed and instead touch a button has been a life changer.
