Great for retro 2D gaming
While I was researching the market for these, I was frustrated because there a different sets of reviews for each vendor who is selling these on Amazon. I’m usually uncomfortable with devices that have low numbers of reviews. All of these things made me conclude that the Anbernic devices are low quality. Then I did a deep dive on YouTube. The wide adoption of raspberry pi for embedded computing needs has resulted in commoditized game boys with mature, quality, open source feature sets, and this realization couldn’t make me happier. Other reviews are going to say stay away unless you know how to tinker with emulator and linux stuff. I say if you don’t know how to look up and follow YouTube tutorials, then you are failing at life. Seriously, this unit is great for retro 2D gaming and I’m proud to say that I’m going to spend lots of free time using it. Extra nostalgia points for faithfully recreating the SP.

Best Linux Handheld
One of the best handhelds to be made ever. While yes, GBA SP’s still exist, this modded Linux system literally lets you play anything up to Dreamcast. The build and size is amazing with a max of 1080p HDMI output. Get muOS on here ASAP and game away!

This Device Is A Joke
This thing is a horrible product. Everything glitches. The language on the game screens is Japanese.The games came up sideways on the screen. It took me a while to find the setting to fix that.The Bluetooth does not work, period. No matter how many times and reboots I tried, it will not connect to any Bluetooth device. It sees the device, it says it is connected to the device, but it isn’t.Every change to a setting requires a reboot.Saving progress on a game is defunct.Any time a character speaks, their voice is choppy, even in HD.And most of the games are not designed for a tiny screen. They are unplayable.I could go on and on, and this is just after a half hour of use. Way too many problems/faults. I’m returning for a refund.

Plastic and internal components are not great.
Onion OS is great. It is an excellent operating system, but it wasn’t developed by Anbernic. It was made by the emulation community. Aside from that, the system speaker constantly crackles and pops when turning the system on or off and when opening and closing games and sometimes when playing games too. The hinge creaks and mine came with permanent smudges on the plastic. So, I’m very satisfied with the OS, but I feel that Anbernic cheaped-out on the internal components to save money and should just hire proper QA specialists to check their products before they leave the warehouse. Lastly, don’t charge this product with a standard USB-C to USB-C cable. You might burn your house down. I can’t understand why they can’t pay the costs to add proper power delivery management on their devices. That’s unacceptable IMO.

Good device but listing is misleading.
The only thing stopping me from giving this listing 5 stars is the fact that the package wasn’t sealed when I received it and it only had 1 SD card in it. Now I know the advertisement says it will only have 64 GB but it also advertises way more games. That is because the second SD card that it should have had if I would have gotten it straight from anbernic would have all the games on it. Instead it had like 10ish games on it. Luckily, I was already planning on putting my own SD card with a custom OS and my own library of games on the device.Otherwise the device is perfect for anything PSP and below- especially GBA games. I’ve been able to play DS games but they are slow.Highly recommend but beware there is a severe lack of games on the device.

Great handheld device, give me that nostalgic feel of when I was a kid. Battery life lasts as advertised and getting the games on it was easy enough to figure out!
