If you prepare a lot of food from scratch using whole ingredients, this is worth the cost
I’ve used the Robot Coupe R2U Dice for a few months and am very pleased with it. One thing I use it for is to shred blocks of cheese as whole cheese is pure & free from anti-caking agents unlike pre-packaged shredded cheese at the grocery store. This device makes that task effortless whereas my old food processor (a high-end household model that is far better than household models available today) would jam up repeatedly. I also bought a separate attachment specifically made for grating hard cheeses like Romano and Parmesan. Again, the R2 Dice blitzes through a wedge of Pecorino Romano in 5-10 seconds vs 25-30 minutes of hand grating that same wedge and getting wrist cramps in the process.I’m glad I sprung for the Dice model as several dishes I make require diced veggies. Making Pico de gallo is a breeze with the R2U Dice. Another dish I make requires two heads of celery to be diced. This thing makes quick work of that too, although two heads of celery is about the limit before you need to clean the dicing plate at least a little bit thanks to those pesky strands. But still far better than any other device I’ve used for that purpose. One tip: When you’re done using the dice attachment, clean off the excess remnants and then soak it in water for about 10-15 minutes. After that, you can hose it off with a sprayer to clear any small bits remaining. Also, handle the dicing attachment carefully as it is deceptively sharp.Yes, this device is expensive and heavy (~ 40 lbs as noted in the description). But the heaviness is indicative of the quality of the materials. I shopped some household processors but they were so light they probably would have only lasted a few weeks. I’m glad I sprung for the Dice and stainless steel bowl options. I’ve been eying this processor for over a decade, so it was not an impulse purchase. The time came and if I was gonna do it, I was gonna do it right. I looked at this as a lifetime purchase since I use it more than most home cooks but not commercially. As I was once told, “When you buy quality, you’ll only cry once [when you pay the purchase price].”

I returned it. Here’s why.
This is an industrial product, and definitely not made for a home. I thought I would try to push it, but I recommend against it. It weighs 40-ish pounds. And all of the parts fill a cupboard.Of course it works like a dream, but that dream is going to have to wait for an industrial kitchen.

My champ, the best I ever had!
The slicing, dicing, and shredding disks offer the best precision and speed of any food processor I’ve owned. The dicing blade and disk can reduce the time it takes for me to prepare ingredients to a fraction of the time it would take with even a Breville Peel and Dice food processor. I’ve had this machine for a couple years, and it continues to be my best friend in as far as food prep is concerned. It will be around for the rest of my life, and I plan on having it passed around for many generations. I named it “Champ” for a reason. That’s because it has always been a champ at what it does, and it has never let me down once!
