Great cameras at a great price
These Tapo cameras are great. The 2k resolution is excellent, and the motion detection works well. And most importantly, their WiFi connectivity is rock solid. They’re easy to set up, configure, and the app is pretty good as apps go.The only odd thing is they have their own power adapter instead of using USB. Not a big deal, but something to know when you’re putting them around the house.I have 12 of them in various spots around the house and outside. They’re not outdoor cameras, but they seem fine as long as they’re not directly in the weather. For the price they can’t be beat.

    Great deal, easy to use
These tapo cameras are pretty great for the price. I waited for a sale and got them at an even better price (the prices of these things fluctuate so much). They’re definitely worth it, especially if you can snag them on sale like I did. The AI pet detection is really cool – my dog likes to run around in the backyard and sometimes jump on the fence, but this camera caught every instance without any issues. It even sent me a notification when he started barking at a squirrel once (I guess that’s considered a threat). The video quality is pretty good too – I can see everything clearly, even at night with the night vision. The two-way audio works well enough if you need to tell your pet or child to calm down from another room. It took me a little while to set up the cameras, but once I got them connected to my Wi-Fi and Alexa (which was easy), everything worked smoothly. My only complaint is that the app can be a bit buggy sometimes, but it’s not too bad.

Very good camera for the price
I now have 8 of these cameras for home security use, for 16 dollars you can’t beat the price.I purchased these knowing the risks of ordering inexpensive cameras manufactured in China and the serious security risks that come along with some of them. These are labeled as being manufactured in Vietnam which is not currently on the list of banned IT products by the DoD. I have not had the time to Wireshark then to verify that no personal information is being sent to any unknown servers. I chose these because they supposedly support both ONVIF and RTSP streams over a local network.Pros:- These cameras DO support the ONVIF protocol and also RTSP streaming, and it works very well. This allows you to integrate them with other 3rd party software, NVRs, and custom applications. They can also be streamed using VLC media player.- The image quality is great for such an inexpensive camera. They can be set up on a flat table surface or ceiling mount.- They are lightweight and cheaply put together, however sturdy and can take a bit of a beating without breaking.- The TAPO android app is far superior to other apps I have used. It provides lots of features and initial setup was relatively simple.- Once the cameras are set up on the TAPO app, they will continue to work when connected to an air-gapped (no internet access) LAN. The TAPO app will also work without an internet connection, so these can be placed on a VLAN without internet access.Cons:- Although ONVIF and RTSP are supported, you DO need to install the TAPO app to set the cameras up initially. As mentioned, they will work on an air-gapped network after initial setup.- The base shaft of the cameras are not removable (only the base itself), so if you are building custom stands or mounts, this will have to be broken off.- Ceiling mounting these can be slightly painstaking, as the screws that are required to be removed to mount the base are the same screws that provide tension to the ball-in-groove adjustment.- Unlike most small cameras available, these are powered by a 9VDC plug-in transformer and not a standard USB-C or Micro-USB phone charger. The charger IS included, but ceiling mounting these can be an issue if no local receptacle is available to plug into.

    Good product at decent price.
I own two Tapo cams now. I use them all the time. I now live in a motel, 6 month lease, and it’s not the best area. So I bought this one on a different one so they can cover my butt when I leave for shopping or work or whatever. Very easy to set up. Very easy to use the software app. The video quality is excellent and not choppy. But the audio recording and the two-way feature have something for the company to work on. You can understand some of what someone says in the room when it’s recording, but that isn’t good quality at all. That’s my only gripe. After a little research into these type of devices, I find that in most cases, excellent audio doesn’t come and tell your head a $90 or above product. And I mean that I seem to hear that about all brand product. I’m not saying that I don’t like this product because I do. I very much do. If I was able to get a bigger place, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a couple more of these. They are very small and easy to tuck away.I love the feature that it has for storing the videos, both on a media card and cloud storage. The cloud storage comes with a 30-day trial after which you will have to pay for a month subscription. If you’re using these for real security reasons, I would highly recommend to go ahead and get your 30-day subscription that will support multiple items at once. You won’t need to have to get a subscription for each one. That way if the place does get robbed, I can only assume that they would snag these cams thinking they would take the evidence with them. The cloud storage stops that. After testing a lot of times what the label is like when I walk into my room as it is secured until my phone receives the alert, sending a photo of the visitor to my phone immediately. Well immediately meeting within 10 seconds sometimes 15 seconds. Well that’s good enough for me.I also like the fact that it has the option to activate an alarm as well as motion detection recording. It sounds like the standard alarm clock on your phone. The volume is about the same as a decent phone turned all the way up for alarm. It does in fact echo out into the Hall with my door closed.

Purchased single units previously all had Australian plugs, the price was quoted in AUD for this 4 pack so i made the assumption that Aussie plugs were fitted, Cameras are great but the plug issue is a bit of an inconvenience

Great camera for my baby’s room. It notifies me when he’s awake, moving, crying or if someone is in the room with him. It’s super simple to use and the price is great!
